Kimosabe Drops Brand New Single 'Potential'
Siviwe Camagu Nkanyuza (born August 31, 1993), known professionally as Kimosabe is a South African self-taught singer, songwriter, music producer and musician.
Born in Umtata in the Eastern Cape, Kimosabe was raised in the small town of Mount Ayliff and began his schooling in Kokstad, KwaZulu-Natal.
Kimosabe began making music at the age of 13 after being introduced to FL Studio by a friend. He taught himself how to use the program in just 2 hours. During his high school years, Siviwe would release numerous hip-hop mix tapes and EP’s under pseudonym ‘Sixfo’ up until he matriculated and moved to Johannesburg to further his studies and pursue a full on music career.
Kimosabe continued to produce music for established and unknown artist whilst still studying, until he was forced to drop out in 2016, citing financial issues. That same year, he had produced music for major local acts such as Cassper Nyovest, DJ Dimplez, Lloyd Cele and many others.
He also featured on DJ Clock’s hit single ‘Wolves’ which was one of the biggest songs of the year at the time, additionally he also featured on DJ Dimplez single ‘Bet It All’ alongside rapper Maggz; DJ Radix’s ’25 To Life’ alongside JR; DJ Shimza’s ‘Uprising’ single and the chart topping Royal K single ‘Vices’, amongst many others. By the end of the year, Kimosabe had become one of the most ubiquitous voices on radio.
In 2017, Kimosabe released his critically-acclaimed EP ‘Nights’ which spawned 3 top 5 singles on YFM R&B Hot99 charts. Shortly after the release of ‘Nights’, kimosabe joined the South African independent record company, David Gresham Records and released his debut single ‘More Than You’.
